Tuna loved

The New York Times offers a provocative essay, “The Ugliest Catch, by Lawrence Downes:  “The worst fate, for a fish, is to be loved or feared — a tuna or a shark.”

We agree with Downes’ concerns about the wanton nature of some sportfishing.

Yet we cannot stress the point enough – all tuna are not the same.  Unlike the Atlantic bluefin tuna, albacore tuna remains a sustainable fishery. Whether sportfishing or commercial fishing, whether dining at a restaurant or dining at home, choosing products from sustainable fisheries is good for the environment and good for our health.
