Eco-best

All tuna are not equal.

The Environmental Defense Fund – which partners with businesses, governments, and communities to find practical environmental solutions –  offers advice on what kind of tuna to purchase and put on your plate:

  • Albacore, bigeye, yellowfin and skipjack are resilient to fishing pressure because they grow quickly and reproduce often.
  • Bluefin tuna, on the other hand, grow slower and take longer to reproduce. This, coupled with their exorbitant value in the sushi market, has led to severely depleted populations.

As always, the FV St Jude only targets albacore. That’s our promise to you and future generations.
