State dinner

Tuna is perfect for elegant dining, even state dinners at the White House.

Tuna tartare was featured at the state dinner honoring German Chancellor Angela Merkel: “The second course reflects Obama’s heritage, it being Hawaiian tuna styled into tuna tartare served with rye crisps and accompanied by pickled carrots, spring pea salad and shaved ham and ginger snaps,” reports Katherine Skiba of the Los Angeles Times.

The menu featured local selections that honored the heritage of both the German guest and American host.
