Full Lifecycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Common Proteins and Vegetables

Every choice made in the grocery store or at the farmer’s market has an impact on the environment.

The Environmental Working Group prepared this graph, showing the lifecycle total of greenhouse gas emissions for common protein foods and vegetables, expressed as kilograms (kg) of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e) per kg of consumed product.

The graph shows that canned tuna carries less impact than cheese or farmed salmon.
