Sustainable messaging

Sustainability is a topic bandied about these days. Deborah Fleischer offers five tips for creating a sustainable video. But her tips also offer a helpful method for detecting messages, products and ideas that offer lasting promise.

Her tips, only slightly revised:

  • Key message must link to core values
  • Encourage new behaviors
  • Being funny/happy is harder than it looks
  • Recognition that sustainability takes more work than realized
  • Message and products stay consistent with core brand.

“There is so much talk these days about how to engage employees around sustainability and embed greener practices into employees’ personal and professional lives,” Fleischer explains. “One thing I am sure about is that the trend toward communicating a sustainability message via video is going to continue to grow.”

Sustainability is a solid trend – no doubt – for every product, business and institution.
